how does a website with no meta keywords or description show up on search engine?

There is a website I made a while back and when I made it, I did not put any keywords or a description in the heading. Now after about 8 months to a year, the web site is showing up in googles search engine, albeit a few pages down (8 to be exact). How is this happening? I thought that if there are no meta keywords or description, that it would not show up in a search engine.

  1. The Lonely God says:

Meta tags are not as all important as everyone thinks they are. They don’t change your page rank that much and they don’t affect whether you can appear in a search engine, their main use is to allow you to control what the search engine result says about your site.
